Robert Lean

Bob grew up on a family farming property at Ebor, on the New England tablelands of New South Wales. Prior to co-founding CLC he had over 10 years’ experience in the commodity trading industry. Starting in 2008 as a broker servicing grower clients in Northern NSW to domestic and international trading roles in wheat, barley, sorghum and pulses. He possesses excellent skills in supply chain and commodity price risk management, which is fundamental to adding value to clients both suppliers and consumers alike. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Rural Science from The University of New England.

James Clifton

James grew up in the north west town of Tamworth, NSW. He entered the grains industry in 2008 after spending 4 years working for an international timber trading company gaining valuable experience in international trade, logistics and documentation. His knowledge of the grains industry began at GrainCorp continuing in the international logistics and documentation role before moving into international trading roles specialising in the Asia-Pacific region. James’ attention to detail, excellent logistics and customer management skills and overall knowledge of the grains industry has enabled him to ultimately co-found CL Commodities.
